Yucca Valley

#Key findings

• Only District 5 is contested. Incumbent Rick Denison, a retired fire battalion chief on the council since 2014, faces Dion Antic, who owns the Snakebite Roadhouse. Districts 1 and 3 are uncontested: Mayor Pro Tem Jim Schooler and Mayor Merl Abel have no challengers. ^[1]
• Context: in 2024 voters extended the town's two half-cent sales taxes, one general and one for sewers, with 83% and 82%. ^[2]

#Council District 5

#Rick Denison (incumbent)

• Key findings: Retired battalion chief; on the council since 2014; in Yucca Valley since 1976. Represents the town on SBCTA, LAFCO and SCAG, and chairs SCAG's Energy and Environment Committee. Says his original goals (public safety, roads, a balanced budget) have largely been met. ^[1]

#Dion Antic

• Owns Snakebite Roadhouse (Yucca Valley) and SBR29 (Twentynine Palms). Priorities: turning Old Town into an arts district, reusing vacant buildings, and a "concierge" service to speed up permits. ^[1]
